Equipment & Cross-Cut Tester

The Cross-Cut Tester is used to test the adhesion of coatings. According to the ASTM test method, it can be divided into the following five grades. Class5B, judgment standard: the cutting edge is smooth and complete, and the coating film does not peel off. Class4B, Judgment Criteria: There are small chips at the intersection of the cutting line, and the peeling area is less than 5% of the total area. Class3B, Judgment Criteria: There is small debris at the edge and intersection of the delivery line, and the peeling area accounts for 5~15% of the total area. Class2B, Judgment Criteria: Part or all of the edges of the cutting lines are peeled off, and/or the small squares are partially or completely peeled off, and the peeling area accounts for 15~35% of the total area. Class1B, Judgment Criteria: The edge of the cutting line is completely peeled off, and/, or the small square is partially or completely peeled off, and the peeling area accounts for 35~65% of the total area. Class 0B, judgment standard: the peeling condition is more serious than Class 1B, and the peeling area accounts for more than 65% of the total area.

Experiment & Thermal aging test

In order to understand the adhesive strength maintained by the resin at various temperatures, we specially conducted heat aging experiments.

Putting it at a specific temperature for a specific number of hours simulates whether the resin will change the bonding strength of the resin in this environment for a long time.

Taking JB799 as an example (Tg is about 97oC), after the test piece is made, it is placed in an oven or an environmental testing instrument for environmental testing. After the test piece completes the environmental testing process, the adhesion strength of the test piece is measured. It can be seen from the picture on the left that after a long-term simulated environment test, whether JB799 is at 80oC/500hr or 100oC/500hr, there is no apparent difference in the intensity. After 120oC/500hr, the intensity is slightly declining.

After this experiment, we can infer that although the bonding strength of resin has a specific correlation with temperature, it is not correlated. Customers can choose different resins according to the product's needs to achieve the product's best performance.

Knowledge & Outgassing?

How to measure the amount of Outgassing?

In the vast majority of cases, using a microbalance to measure the change in weight of the test object at a specific temperature and pressure is sufficient to calculate the amount of Outgassing. According to my experience, using TGA to measure the amount of Outgassing should be very careful because the drift of the instrument itself during the long-term measurement process will sometimes affect the judgment of Outgassing. It is best to perform a blank experiment simultaneously to confirm the validity of the data. The amount of Outgassing obtained by the microbalance is usually much smaller than that obtained by the TGA measurement, which may be related to the quality and surface area of the test piece, and needs to be specified.

Product & NA263

EPOWIDE NA263 is a solvent-borne epoxy resin system for composite materials. Compared with general solvent-based formulations, this product has the same processability, thixotropy, and baking conditions. EPOWIDE NA263 has a low loss rate, high toughness, and rigidity. It is suitable for general RC glass fiber and carbon fiber products and is suitable for different construction methods such as OPP external pressure and mold internal pressure methods.

Activity & Tail tooth dinner party

In order to thank all employees for their hard work over the past year, Everwide Chemical specially held a dinner party on January 25th. In addition to the joy of the parents and all employees of Everwide, Manager Jia-ming, Ye, and Manager Zhong-zheng, Cai from Beihui Chemical also came to the dinner party to bring blessings from afar. In addition to the staff lottery, game activities were also held during the dinner party, which added much fun and made the atmosphere of the dinner party high! I hope that Everwide Chemical can continue to improve and move forward in 2008 like the warm atmosphere of the tail tooth dinner party!

Living & Dr. Bai's hand soap is not as good as Nanqiao Crystal Soap?

Many things appear to be progress on the surface, but they are backward. An example is the recent replacement of Nanqiao Crystal Soap with Dr. Bai's Antibacterial Hand Soap within the company. The source of raw materials is concerned: Nanqiao crystal soap is made from vegetable oil (unsaturated fatty acids) pure natural (solar) raw materials, and the production process is simple. Dr. Bai's hand soap is made from raw petrochemical materials and undergoes complex reactions. As far as the cost is concerned: comparing the raw materials and production methods, Nanqiao crystal soap is cheaper than Dr. Bai's hand soap. As far as the impact on the environment is concerned: because Nanqiao Crystal Soap is composed of unsaturated fatty acids, it is easily decomposed by organisms in the environment. It has a lighter burden on the environment. Dr. Bai's hand soap is not a product of nature and has a heavy burden on the environment. As far as the cleaning effect is concerned: Nanqiao crystal soap is weakly alkaline, and it is more "beneficial" to wash, and it feels astringent after washing; Dr. Bai's hand lotion is close to neutral, and it does not feel strong enough to wash, and it feels relatively dry after washing. Moisturize. People in different industries have different views on this difference. For me, I prefer Nanqiao Crystal Soap. Because of my work, I have to come into contact with resin every day. The slippery feeling after washing with Dr. Bai's hands makes it difficult to determine if the hands are clean or if there is still resin on them. In terms of "antibacterial" itself: the worst part of Dr. Bai's hand soap is that it is "antibacterial" (with the added antibacterial agent Triclosan). Note: Recent foreign studies have found that the antibacterial agent Triclosan added to antibacterial mouthwashes may react with chlorine in tap water to produce chloroform, a carcinogen. Everyone should be careful.
