Experiment § Front fork of a bicycle

The bicycle front fork is used to connect the front wheel to the frame and structure of the rider. It comprises four parts: tube, shoulder cover, wishbone, and hook. As shown in the figure, the beam tube is made of aluminum alloy and chromium-molybdenum steel, the shoulder cover and the hook are made of aluminum alloy. The wishbone is made of aluminum alloy and carbon fiber composite materials. Most of these components of different materials are glued together with epoxy resin adhesive and finally painted with soil, color paint, and topcoat, which looks like a one-piece product.

The glued front fork must pass a rigorous impact test. To put it simply, during the test, the beam tube is fixed, dropped with a fixed weight and fixed height, and hits the part of the hook to check whether the glued place is detached. Adhesives must consider the adhesive strength of the shear mode and excellent impact resistance to pass the test.

The front fork is vital because that position has to withstand a lot of force, and the bicycle's speed is very fast when sprinting downhill. If the part is defective, it will cause severe damage. We always produce products for related applications with the most rigorous attitude.

Activity § 100W LED street light

Among the exhibits of Everwide Chemical at this year's Electronics Fair, the largest volume is a "street lamp." This thing, which seems the same as the street lights seen everywhere on the roadside, is quite mysterious.

First of all, the light source is switched to an LED light source and only consumes 100W of power consumption, which can reach the brightness of an ordinary 200W mercury lamp. Secondly, the heat dissipation mechanism of this street lamp is quite simple, and it can guide the heat of the LED to the housing, so it has a low-cost competitive advantage.

Furthermore, although this street lamp is changed to an LED lamp, it can use traditional lamp housings and lampshades to achieve an optimized design with minimal changes. In the exhibition hall, this "smiling" street lamp attracted the attention of domestic visitors and buyers from Japan, Russia, Brazil, India, Spain, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Thailand, Italy, Dubai, etc. Leave the contact information and ask us to provide further information. Of course, this street lamp uses the heat dissipation substrate supplied by our company, jointly developed by the customer and us.

With the thermal conductivity of the heat dissipation substrate, the operating temperature of the LED can be lowered, thereby extending its life. At present, this substrate is used in high-power, high-wattage LED lamps, and the next stage will also be extended to the application of LED LCD TVs that are not easy to dissipate heat.

Knowledge § What are the functions of reinforcing materials in composite materials?

The resin in the polymer composite is called the matrix, and the fiber is called the reinforcement. The function of the base material in the composite material has the following points:

1. Withstand the stress of the composite material; 2. Prevent the growth of microcracks; 3. Control the mechanical properties of the composite material; 4. Improve the creep resistance and fatigue resistance of the composite material.

Living § "Raise and run" or "Head on and catch up"

When I was in middle school, one day, my instructor said to us: You can't just do things with the mentality of "Raise and run"; you must have the courage to "Catch up." Because if we follow others' tails, they will continue to make progress. When will we catch up? By catching up, establishing the latest and most challenging goals, and working hard to achieve them, is the fundamental way to turn defeat into victory.

For me, the teacher was a junior high school student; what the teacher said was naturally indigestible and only left a memorable impression on the pattern the teacher drew on the blackboard. Recently, I often think of Everwide Chemistry's growth trajectory in the past ten years and suddenly understand the teacher's teaching back then: "Raise and run" is not feasible.

As a material supplier, Everwide Chemical is a latecomer in the market. We will develop products (equivalent products) with similar performance for leading brands (competitive products). In the early stages of development, the performance of comparable products is often inferior to existing competitors, and we need to continue to improve. This kind of situation is very similar to the concept of "getting up and catching up in a hurry." I am busy all day long, but the results are limited. Either it can't be sold at all or it can only be used as a spare tire. After all, no customer likes to use substandard products made by backward teams.

What makes us profit is "Catch up" type products. This kind of product is not just a product that has been running for a long time and "blue is better than blue," but it must be thought from the "head." Leading brands always have areas that cannot satisfy customers, such as processing conditions, operational performance, appearance requirements, professional services, etc. When our product performance exceeds competitors', we need to think carefully about further providing competitive products.

Therefore, "Catch up" is imitated; it is me too, it is a second-line equivalent; "Catch up" is innovation, it is only one, it is a quality product. Although the comprehension has been slow for twenty-six or seven years, I still want to share this snack with my mentor, Mr. Chen-yang, Zhan and thank him for his teachings to us.

Remarks: Huixu and I are both students of Jieshou Junior High School Teacher Zhan. The photo was taken at the Taipei Electronics Fair in 2008.
