Experiment § Thermal curing PC scratch-resistant coating
Polycarbonate (PC) is widely used in transportation and protective masks, but its material is easily scratched, so a hard coating needs to be applied on the surface to extend its service life. By introducing an inorganic oxide coating synthesized using Sol-gel into organic resin, the material retainsflexibility while significantly improving hardness and scratch resistance. The experimental test results show that after rubbing 10 times with steel wool with a load of 1kg on the hard-coated PC, the PC on the right side has no obvious scratches (Figure 1), exposed under a UV machine (3 meters/minute) After 70 times of aging tests, Yongkuan products have a better anti-cracking effect (Figure 2); the yellowing difference test results are also comparable to competitive products and are stable (Figure 3). In addition, after boiling in water at 80°C for 2 hours, the adhesion test reached 5B, showing superior adhesion. To meet the needs of ESG sustainability and carbon reduction, we continue to improve our products, lower the curing temperature, and avoid the volatilization of methanol, while maintaining the excellent characteristics of our products. Activity § Start our energy-saving journey!
Delta Electronics with us at the meeting of the ISO50001:2018 energy management system. Everyone took this meeting very seriously. We invited energy management system consultants to set implementation goals for us at each stage this year (Figure 1). After completing the regulation course, we reviewed internal and external issues and opportunity and risk surveys together and discussed how to collect equipment lists. Group the work areas, collect the energy consumption data of each piece of equipment, and record it in the energy usage equipment evaluation form (Figures 2~4). This is our first step towards energy saving!
Knowledge § What is Anti-fog coating? (2)
Anti-fog coating will use hydrophilic polymers, surfactants, or ionic additives in the paint formula to increase the polarity and reduce the water contact angle. The point is that these functions need to act on the paint surface. If the additive and the paint are completely compatible, the paint will dilute the hydrophilic ability, and the anti-fog effect will not be good. If there is no bond between the additive and the coating, it will move due to the dissolution and evaporation of water during use, and the anti-fog effect will gradually deteriorate. From an application point of view, the durability of anti-tarnish coatings is key. Some tests require passing wiping, soaking, boiling, etc., which greatly increases the difficulty of coating development.
Living § QBQ Diary: From self-improvement to altruism
The first week of the internship is over. At first, I just wanted to write about my thoughts on "the problems behind the QBQ problem." Finally, I decided to review what I had learned weekly and set goals for next week. During the internship, I learned a lot and realized the importance of QBQ thinking. In terms of "self-interest," I learned to use equipment, reduce waste, keep clean, truthfully record experimental data, and understand the characteristics of raw materials. I also took the initiative to help the seniors get raw materials, became familiar with the storage locations of the materials, used the free time to ask questions actively, and cherished the opportunity to learn. In terms of "altruism," I will save the environment and reduce the use of toilet paper; pay attention to safety when handling volatile substances and protect health; keep the laboratory clean and tidy to ensure that the next person can use it smoothly; proactively fill out scrap forms to avoid bad debts in the laboratory produce. Thanks to Senior Yuren for his patient guidance and allowing me to operate the machine confidently. What was even more special was the time I was cleaning the grinder. At 10 a.m., my senior asked me to rest first, and he then changed hands to clean it. This made me deeply realize the importance of mutual understanding and support in the team.
