Experiment § Observation Report on Impregnating Adhesive
The manufacturing process of the thermistor requires the protection of the two terminal electrodes in a high-temperature environment, so it is necessary todesign animpregnation glue that is high-temperature resistant and has good coating properties. In order to speed up the experimental progress, we used iron wire to simulate the impregnation experiment to ensure the anti-sag characteristics and coating properties of the glue (Figures 1, 2). By replacing resins with different functional groups and anti-sag additives, the viscosity and thixotropic index can be adjusted. Since Fumed Silica will produce silicon dioxide when burned at high temperatures, which affects the conductivity of the terminal electrode, only liquid anti-sag additives can be used. After adjusting the raw materials and proportions, and through multiple high-temperature tests, it can meet the requirements of the manufacturing process (Figure 3). Continuously observe the viscosity changes for one month. The viscosity is between 250,000 and 300,000 cps to ensure that the glue is stable when used in an open impregnation tank (Figure 4). If you have any impregnation related needs or questions, please feel free to contact us. ─Author: Mr. Shi Yaowei
Activity § Vietnam/Thailand Exhibition
This is our first time to participate in the International Automobile and Motorcycle Parts Exhibition held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and the Thailand Electronic Production Equipment and Microelectronics Exhibition. The exhibition attracted more than 300 domestic and foreign companies, including automobile, motorcycle and accessories related companys. There are more than 400 booths (Figures 1, 2). During the exhibitions, we displayed various adhesive with different applications. Through participating in the exhibitions, we also collected local industry needs and communicated and interacted with professionals from all over the world. We were honored to be visited by local media at the exhibition to let more people to know about Everwide. (Figures 3~5).
Knowledge § What is air-drying inorganic adhesive?
Air-drying adhesives will cured after the water evaporates, and the most representative is sodium silicate. The viscous sodium silicate aqueous solution is water glass, generally expressed as Na2O. nSiO2. When water glass reacts with dehydration or forms hydrogen bonds with the adhered substrate, SiO2 colloid is precipitated from the solution and adheres to the substrate. Since sodium silicate adhesive has a bonding effect only after it loses moisture, it has a good bonding effect on materials that easily absorb water. It is often used in the processing of wood, paper products and thick cardboard. Also because this colloid is hygroscopic, its durability will be relatively poor, and it is not suitable for long-term applications (such as furniture). Sodium silicate glue is alkaline and can easily contaminate the substrate. Even if it is neutralized with acid, free silicic acid will be produced, which is another disadvantage of the adhesive.
Living § Rhacophorus arvalis at Night
I participated in the "4th Interpreter Training of the The Society of Wilderness Yunlin Branch". In the cool night, Teacher Gu, who is in charge of the night observation course, sat under the big tree at the entrance of Shigui Elementary School and asked the students: "Why do we need to observe at night?" "Who should be observed during the night? Everyone raised their hands to answer the questions. Teacher Gu briefly summarized everyone's opinions: "The environment at night is different from the daytime. Some creatures like the low temperature, low light, and concealment at night...etc. It is easier to observe these creatures at night." "As everyone knows. Nocturnal creatures include fireflies, bats, owls, etc., and the main character we are going to observe today is the rhacophorus arvalis, which is endemic to Taiwan.
The first place of observation is a bamboo forest in Dounan Shigui. In the water bucket, there were several Polypedates megacephalus of different sizes and a large group of white bubbles. Teacher's wife quickly found the rhacophorus arvalis on the bamboo. It was an emerald green tree frog with a white lower body. It looked like a gentleman. Teacher Gu let us tought its small toes. It didn’t take long for the frog to struggle and jump away. Because the temperature of human hands is too high for frogs, holding it for too long will make the frog hot and dehydrated. Sometimes you need to bring a bucket of water to let the frog rest. The second night viewing location is Teacher Gu’s grapefruit garden, which has rich animals and plants., including small Microhyla fissipes, Fejervarya limnocharis, Polypedates braueri, Rhacophorus arvalis, Nanhaipotamon formosanum, snakes and Amorphophallus henryi. Actual observation is more touching than listening to lectures in class. After observing and interacting at night, I feel that Rhacophorus arvalis is a cute and interesting creature. ─Author: Mrs Lu Qingmei
