Experiment § Nanomaterials and adhesives

Nanomaterials are regarded as a material revolution, and everyone expects to have very unique characteristics on such a small scale. Some nanomaterials did find their place and survived on the market, and some materials disappeared after a while. Take our recent experiments with nano alumina (Al2O3) and carbon nanotubes (CNT) as examples (Figure 1-2). These two materials can increase the adhesive strength of epoxy resin in the original data. We added these materials to JC699, but the adhesion strength did not improve: in a relatively small adhesion area, the strength change was not large (Figure 3), but in a relatively large adhesion area, the high rigidity of nano alumina will cause the adhesion strength to decrease (Figure 4). Why is the result of our experiment different from that of the original factory? To put it simply, the recipes for the experiments conducted by the raw material factories are very simple. The performance from 50 points to 60 points, there is a very obvious effect, but the adhesive produced by the formula factory originally has a level of 90 points, it is not easy to improve to 92 points. It is more common that the mechanism for enhancing the strength of the nanomaterial conflicts with the original design of the adhesive, so the originally expected effect cannot be obtained. For example, high-strength adhesives attach great importance to toughness, and nanomaterials increase rigidity, so the strength decreases. In addition, nanomaterials often have additives, which sometimes affect the reaction and flow behavior of the material, causing the results to be less than expected.

Activity § 2018 year-end meeting

We added a gratitude event to the year-end conference this year to give ourselves a breakthrough and increase the interaction between departments. The first is everyone's high-five cheers, each with a joyful expression on everyone's face, and then everyone holds hands and closes their eyes, starting today's meeting from the heart. In addition to reports from various departments, I watched Taiwan’s cartoon "Road to Happiness" in the afternoon, and wish everyone happiness at the beginning of the new year. We are grateful to Wverwide's counselor, Yu Minghe, for his company throughout the day and for sharing the history of Yongkuan's growth. Thanks also to the sign language translation teacher for assisting a deaf colleague to participate in the meeting. The year-end meeting is a big gathering of Everwide. I hope everyone can witness together, no one can be less, don’t you think? I would also like to thank the teachers of Pomegranate Middle School. Whether it is the help before the trip, the spacious audio-visual classroom, and the excellent audio equipment, they are the keys to the successful completion of the event. Finally, the year-end meeting ended with holding hands, closing your eyes, and looking back at the entire event today. Just like "believe it will happen" in the movie, we are full of confidence in the future and stride forward.

Knowledge § The four ages of plastics: the fourth age

The fourth generation of polymers: After the discovery of polyacetylene in 1977, polymers entered the photoelectric field. Polymer chains prior to the third generation were designed to withstand mechanical stress or provide electrical insulation properties. The fourth-generation polymer chain has a completely different design concept and is used to conduct and store electrons and photons. Some related applications have been very popular, and some are the stars of tomorrow: liquid crystal polymers in liquid crystal displays, hole transport layers in organic light-emitting diodes, light-emitting layers and electron transport layers, and dyes for solar dye-sensitive batteries. Materials of different eras have different design concepts and different applications. It is not appropriate to regard the materials of the later era as the progress of the previous era. For example, the mechanical properties of the third generation are better than the materials of the first and second generations, but they are difficult to process and costly, so the application is still not as widespread as the earlier materials.

Living § On Happiness Road

On Happiness Road is a cartoon produced last year, and many colleagues said it was good-looking during the year-end conference screening. Everyone is touched differently. Behind the fact that "happiness" is "believe and you will see", the story of the movie also records a lot of codes, which is worthy of our recollection. Take some examples: the protagonist in the animation goes to the roof to drop pigeons. My elementary school classmate raises pigeons at home, and he often hears his father’s dream of winning money in competitions. The protagonist has a blond-haired classmate, only knows that his father is the US Air Force.

It happened that I lived in Taichung when I was a child, and the aunt next door lived with the American soldiers. The birth of the protagonist, the death of Jiang and his son, street protests, and the election of A-Bian all moved with me for 5-7 years. Of course, we are all confused about what we are interested in. Do you really have to rely on your family's mathematics, physics, and chemistry to have a future? The theme song of the movie was quite meaningful, which made my classmates abroad cry. (Listen to the song and press me →https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYykvQA4mq) Good movies have recorded a lot of passwords for us, with personal lives, ethnic history, and historical background. When you look at it carefully, you can decode it and feel it. This film won the first prize of the "Tokyo Anime Award" in Japan, where animation is developed. It must not be because of the beautiful technique, the gorgeous story, and the box office that is full of games. It must be a straightforward, light life story to move people. This latter thing transcends national boundaries and time and space. The more civilized the place, the more demand for this kind of memory. With this article alone, I will send away the Lunar New Year holiday in February 2019 and call on everyone to support good movies in Taiwan. Those are our common experiences, and they are what we leave to future generations.
