Experiment § Resin surface cured at room temperature

The epoxy resin cured at room temperature mostly adopts aliphatic amine, which will be gelled within a few minutes to a few hours after mixing with the resin. Fatty amines are quite hydrophilic and most of them are compatible with water, so they have high hygroscopicity. Another feature is that it is alkaline, which absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide in the air, neutralizes acid and alkali and forms ammonium carbonate. Some ammonium carbonate can be dissolved in the original fatty amine, so it is not visible (Figure 1). If ammonium carbonate is insoluble in the original fatty amine, a white precipitate will form at the bottle mouth (Figure 2).

Fatty amines and resins with high water content due to moisture absorption have too much difference in polarity: the former is water-based, and the latter is oily, so it is not easy to stir uniformly (Figure 3), and the ammonium carbonate dissolved in it causes the properties of the cured product to deteriorate. Sometimes the storage of fatty amine itself is not a problem, but the process of mixing and curing with resin will absorb moisture and cause the surface of the cured product to whiten (Figure 4). In severe cases, the surface will feel greasy and sticky (Figure 5). This formula will eliminate most of the surface problems in a high temperature or low humidity environment.

Activity § Good luck in the Year of the Pig

The Lunar New Year is approaching, and the winning rate of Everwide's year-end draw is 100%. The colleagues who won the prize were all laughing, saying that the end of this year was really super happy. Thanks to Everwide Welfare Committee for bringing colleagues to eat and drink. Although we never drank alcohol at dinner, everyone looked very happy during the meal. The festival is approaching, the final production date before the Everwide New Year Festival is 1/29 (Tuesday), 2/2~2/10 are the New Year holidays, and 2/11 (Monday) will resume normal work and shipment. Thank you for your affirmation of Everwide Newsletter in the past year, and please continue to support us in the new year! Have you planned the nine-day holiday activities for the New Year? The bi-weekly strike series of Everwide e-newspaper also publishes some good places to visit for your reference (please click the link: http://www.everwide.com.tw/zh-tw/news_paper.php). I wish you all the best for the "Pig" in the year of Jihai, good luck for the "Pig" and good luck for the "Pig" year

Knowledge § Four eras of plastics: the third era

The third era of polymer: a product of the Cold War between the East and the West after 1965.

With the space race caused by the East and West Cold War atmosphere, special polymers with lightweight, high strength, high heat resistance, and solvent resistance were developed with complex molecular structures. Many third-generation polymers are called high-performance engineering plastics. For example PPS、PEEK、PES、PEI、LCP. These materials are almost all high Tg, aromatic crystalline polymers, which are used in the manufacture of auto parts, pump casings and blades, sterilization containers, syringes, flexible circuit boards, machinery industry, and precision electronic components. Compared with the second generation of "engineering plastics," the third generation of "high-performance engineering plastics" is characterized by extreme environmental applications.

Living § Display manufacturing and high-performance materials exhibition

In previous years, traveling to Japan was self-guided. This time I went to Tokyo to exhibit. Part of the booth was still under construction the day before the exhibition, and the luggage full of workpieces was carefully escorted to the booth during the whole process, and then went to the service counter to apply for the admission pass. At the same time, the new year's exhibitors are invited at the service counter, which shows that the Japanese attach great importance to exhibition planning, which has also allowed the past exhibitions to proceed smoothly. During the three-day exhibition, I used the time to communicate with other companies technically and discovered the importance of language communication. Although I have to rack my brains to express my ideas, I feel that I have benefited a lot. In addition, we also visited future technological trends, such as liquid metal, metal 3D printing technology, multi-functional environmentally friendly coatings, flexible screens, and automated molds, to understand the relationship between industries. The experience of participating in foreign countries has allowed me to experience the differences of different cultures, such as the etiquette of exchanging business cards and the response between customers. It also reminds me of participating in the annual medical conference and aquaculture annual conference when I was in the research institute: I took the research paper to the annual conference and published it, just like a swordsman. Everyone takes out their own treasures, in addition to showing their achievements, it is also a good opportunity to absorb knowledge. Apart from the exhibition, we went to visit the first university in Japan: the University of Tokyo. The glittering Ginkgo Avenue on the campus, the Yasuda Lecture Hall where students fought against historical events, and the only remaining gate of the Imperial Palace: Akamon. This exhibition showcased our spirit of cooperation: working together to overcome the unfamiliarity of the environment, language barriers, learning to deal with foreign customers, and exploring future development. Colleagues said: Our company always encourages action. I am also very happy to be involved.
