Experiment § What is the purity of raw materials?
Most of companies do not know the purity when they purchase raw materials. Some raw materials are mixtures and some of them have simple structures. For raw materials with a specific structure, does the higher purity have the better property? We recently evaluated the raw material METHPA (Figure 1) and found an interesting thing: The products themselves are the same but different factories. These product are all claim as METHPA (Methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride), but in fact there are some differences (Figure 2, infrared spectroscopy). We used APC (Advanced polymer chromatography) to measure the molecular weight and found that their by-products are not the same (Figure 3). Red line is Factory A, and the purity is relatively poor, and it has more by-products. Blue line is Factory B, which has better purity. However, the Tg of factory A's acid anhydride and epoxy resin after curing is about 51℃, and that of factory B's acid anhydride and epoxy resin after curing is about 45℃ (Figure 4). This experiment shows that the quality of raw materials is not directly related to purity. There are some differences in the raw materials between different brands.What is the most omportant thing while selecting raw materials, it is necessary to meet the development needs, and do not arbitrarily change the source of raw materials. If you have to change the source, you must make an experimental evaluation to minimize the variation.

Knowledge § Why curing speed of super glue are unstable?
The curing reaction of super glue is affected by lots of factors: environmental temperature, humidity, moisture absorption rate of the substance surface, acidity and alkalinity of the substance surface, etc. Because these factors are different every day and every batch, the curing rate of super glue will be affected, even the clouding mark will not be the same. Changes in environmental temperature and humidity are easy to understand; however the moisture absorption rate on the surface of the substance is not easy to observe. For example, plastics soon molded and room temperature plastics exhibit different water absorption rates. The former cures significantly slower than the latter. Sometimes release agents with different degrees of adhesion on the surface of the plastic, different conditions of spitting oil and frost on the surface of the rubber that will make the content of acidic and alkaline substances on the surface different. It may affect the reaction rate of super glue.
Living § Everwide in my eyes
The two months internship at Everwide, although I was only know about the production process. I established lots of knowledge of resin, which gave me a different perspective. In addition to professional knowledge, many simple and repetitive works also trained us to cultivate patience and careful at work. More importantly, I had lots of questions that I never thought about it when I was studying at school, What can I do to keep improving myself? How can I practice personal responsibility? How can I cultivate interpersonal relationships? How can I become an influential person?” Even I really don’t know about the workplace situations, but I believe that I will definitely find the answer one day. Furthermore, I have changed my bad habits during my internship. I used to do it blindly alone, but Everwide teaches us the key points of processing. In addition to doing my own job, it was also very important to take some time to handover the next operator to reduce the burden and maintain the efficiency of the production line. As long as I completed a work with my colleague and progressed with everyone, I would be very happy. Although sometimes we have been encountered some setbacks, seniors would encourage me, “Failure can make people grow. How do you fix it if something goes wrong? What can you do to make it better next time?” " No pain, no gain " was very suitable to describe this summer vacation. Thanks to the colleagues for their guidance and assistance throughout the processing of the factory. I have learned a lot of work skills, and many seniors college were sharing their experiences and guiding me when I overcome lack of direction. Thanks for trusting me, and let me work independently in the last few days. I am starting to understand of the work, and I finally know that the value of "continuous learning", which is very different from my previous imagination. Every story has an ending.
