Experiment § X-ray fluorescence spectrometer

Everwide Chemical has been deeply engaged in electronic applications for many years, and is committed to promoting halogen-free products and heavy metal-free products; last year, we purchased XRF (X-ray flu orescence spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry) for elemental analysis to provide customers with better services (Figure 1, 2). XRF comprises an X-ray tube and a detection system; the X-ray tube emits X-rays and hits the material (Figure 3). In the atoms that make up the material, the electrons in the inner layer are knocked away, and the electrons in the outer layer fill in the empty orbital space of the inner layer and emit fluorescence at the same time (Figure 4). Different elements emit fluorescence of different wavelengths so that the type and content of the elements can be detected. Theoretically, the atomic number of the periodic table from sodium (Na) to uranium (U) can be analyzed. XRF analysis can be divided into qualitative and quantitative studies; the qualitative analysis can quickly analyze the types of elements in the material, which is especially suitable for heavy metal screening but if you want to detect the chlorine content, you must do a quantitative analysis. We send many basic resins to SGS for testing and use the chlorine content measured by the third fair unit (ICP method) to make the XRF regression curve to obtain the calibration line of 500-1800ppm. By the calibration curve method, we can analyze whether our products meet the halogen-free specification of 900ppm.

Activity § Year-end calendar

It's the end of the year again, and friends greet each other by coincidence: "Did you win the big prize?" Secretly tell everyone a secret; when drawing a lottery, dream that the lucky symbol will increase the chance of winning! The biweekly newspaper has specially made a lucky draw box so that readers will be blessed! Please don't be discouraged if you don't get the big prize, and do your best next year! The New Year is almost after the year-end party. Thank you for your support and encouragement to Everwide in the past year. In the coming year, we will work harder to do things well and share our achievements with you. Please pay attention to everyone: Our last production and shipment date this year is February 12 (Thursday). On the 13th, the factory area will be cleaned, and the floor paint will be painted; the 17th (Tuesday) is the time for the year-end meeting of all colleagues. February 18 to February 23 is the 6-day Spring Festival holiday. We will officially go to work on February 24 (Tuesday) and continue to serve everyone! I would like to wish the readers of the biweekly with this article: celebrate the new year, proud with success!

Knowledge § The thinner, the lens of myopia glasses, is better?

When choosing glasses, optometrists will always advertise that their lenses are "thin." When the refractive index of the glasses lens is higher, the appearance of the lens will be relatively thinner, so there are "ultra-thin lenses" on the market, which are suitable for people with high myopia. However, on the other hand, the higher the refractive index of the lens, the Abbe Number will also decrease. The Abbe number is a value used to evaluate the dispersion capability of an optical system. The smaller the Abbe number, the greater the degree of dispersion; conversely, the smaller the dispersion, the greater the Abbe number. Therefore, when the Abbe number is too low, the image at the edge of the lens will easily cause visual interference and destruction of various colors. It also tells us: the thinner the lens is not necessary, the better.
