Experiment § Why is there no CAS No.?

CAS No. (Chemical Abstracts Service Number) is compiled by the Chemical Abstracts Service of the United States for substances, mixtures, or alloys. It forms a database for easy retrieval and inquiries and avoids confusing chemical substances with multiple names. Many new raw materials developed will be sent to the American Chemical Abstracts Service to compile a CAS number and be included in the database. We often use such numbers to inquire about various chemical substances' properties and the material safety data sheets (MSDS) and technical data (TDS) of these substances on many websites.

Many customers found more than two different CAS No. for the same chemical name in MSDS. It is because these chemicals with the same name may be isomers. Although they have the same molecular formula, they have different arrangements of atoms, different structural formulas, and different characteristics, so they have other CAS numbers. For example, the English name Silica has many different numbers. You can use Silica on the GHS Hazard Information Search website, http://ghs.cla.gov.tw/CHT/intro/search.aspx?cssid=3. Many customers ask: "Why do some materials in MSDS have no CAS No.?" Many raw materials synthesized by factories have not been applied for CAS No. Some cannot be listed because of commercial secrets. When there is no CAS No., replacing the CAS No. with a similar substance is still helpful to grasp the characteristics.

Activity § 2012 year-end meeting

On the last day before the Lunar New Year, everyone got together for a year-end meeting as usual. For us, year-end meetings are like year-end reviews, family gatherings, and fun parties. The annual agenda is carefully arranged. In addition to the reports of various departments, there are reminders and encouragements from the supervisor. Different from previous years, many activities have been added: colleagues took to the stage to perform lively atmosphere and announced the list of winners of the manufacturing department's reading experience and rewards for colleagues who successfully quit smoking. The top of the event was that everyone voted together to vote for the "2012 Everbright Person of the Year". Each person has a ballot and circled out three colleagues that everyone thought were worthy of reward. As the ballots were released, the exclamations sounded one after another. No matter who the winner is, every colleague is the best candidate in the boss's mind!

 

Knowledge § Why do some epoxy resin formulations burst open when passing through a tin furnace?

Some resin formulations use non-reactive diluents, plasticizers, etc. These additives will remain in the cured resin and will volatilize when passing through a high-temperature tin furnace, causing the cured product to burst. In addition, some epoxy resin compositions will undergo decomposition reactions at high temperatures (such as the hardener DICY) and will also produce cracking odors and even foaming when passing through a high-temperature tin furnace. Some inorganic minerals (such as aluminum hydroxide) are used in the formulation of fire-resistant specifications. Long-term exposure to high temperatures will release water, which is a possible cause.

 

Living § The beginning of Silicon

When Everwide was founded, it applied for trademark registration of Ultrawide, Epowide, and Siliwide and planned to develop light-curing resins, epoxy resins, and silicone resins. After more than ten years of hard work, we have made small achievements in the first two products, but the products with the Siliwide trademark did not take the first step until 2012. Silicon is very far away for us. From the perspective of using UV and epoxy as a formula, it is called "no formula at all." Even if I want to ask about specifications such as molecular weight and equivalent weight, the only information available is "viscosity." The specification of epoxy resin is called epoxy equivalent, and the specification of Silicon resin is called viscosity. For these two incompatible materials, we should shift the method of understanding. There is no theoretical calculation, only physical descriptions. The raw materials start from upstream (silica), starting monomer (chlorosilane D4 structure), polymer to product end, and all five major factories arrange Dow corning, ShinEtsu, Momentive (GE-Toshiba), Evonik (Degussa), Bluestar (Wacker). We do all the industries through one-stop. We neither can synthesize raw materials nor can it be challenging to obtain essential materials. Therefore, after struggling for a long time with insufficient knowledge, insufficient raw material sources, and immature products, I finally made some breakthroughs. I once bought a silicon bridging agent from a raw material supplier, and the sample has been tested. Please quote him for a price of 20kg. He said: "What is 20kg? The original factory does not have this kind of packaging. The original factory sells the entire cabinet, and they are sold together with the resin cover. No selling method only sells bridging agents." Look at the early photos; the experiment failed. The resin in the entire bucket was cured. And the miserable site was cleaned up by an electric drill and iron rod. I thought: To succeed in my career, it is excruciating and tormented. I believe this belated beauty can bring another piece of scenery.
