Experiment § Light-curing resin for lens fixing

The vigorous development of the 3C industry is closely related to modern people. Among them, the application of lenses is very wide, and the usage is increasing day by day. For example, it is applied to mobile phones, computers, video equipment, and other equipment. A common lens assembly is composed of a lens and a base. The structure is shown in the figure on the left, and the two must be fixed with adhesive. Everwide recently launched the UV glue for lens fixation. It has a specific viscosity and can be dispensed in the groove between the lens and the base without any overflow, and it will not stain the parts during the dispensing process. The torsion force of the product after adhesion can reach a certain standard. In addition, the biggest feature is reworkable. When the finished product has defects and needs to be reworked, it can be disassembled by applying appropriate torque, which will not cause the motor reed to be deformed or the thread to be damaged. When the colloid is reworking, it will not increase the difficulty of cleaning due to the generation of debris, nor will it cause the lens to be dirty due to the difficulty of rework, and fully consider the convenience of the customer.

Knowledge § What is the biggest difference between soft PU and soft epoxy resin?

Many infusion applications must choose soft materials to avoid stress-induced cracking and materials with a Tg value lower than room temperature will be regarded as "soft". Both PU and epoxy resin can achieve the purpose of lowering the Tg value below room temperature through formulation design, but there are still some differences in the characteristics of the two: There are strong hydrogen bonds between the PU molecules, so a special physical link is formed, which gives PU good flexibility. Due to the structure of epoxy resin, even if tougheners and softeners are used to reduce the crosslinking density to produce a soft cured product, the epoxy resin is still prone to cracks during the process of large and repeated bending of the external force, so the flexibility of epoxy resin is still not as good as PU. However, most applications do not experience severe repeated bending, so this difference may not be apparent. In addition, the reaction rate of soft PU is generally faster than that of soft epoxy resin, but the PU reaction is affected by moisture, and the cured product is prone to bubbles.

 

Living § Colleagues should not forget the original intention of establishing the factory

At the end of 1999, colleagues started to work in our factory in Douliu Industrial Zone. At that time, the factory building had not been built, so we could only lay carpets in the tin room to sleep. The factory has not applied for electricity yet but borrowed a temporary power supply of 10 horsepower from a next-door neighbor. However, this power supply is only enough to turn on the lights, televisions, and other appliances, but in winter when the electric water heater is used to take a bath, the power will be cut off in the middle. So in this case, we certainly don't have a mixer for production. Once we were about to manufacture about 20 kilograms of semi-finished products: I poured a few raw materials into an iron bucket, locked the lid, held the iron bucket and shook it manually, and used both hands as a mixer. At that time, I accidentally sprained my left thumb, which caused the bending angle of my left thumb to be different from that of my right hand. When there is no tensile machine, in order to evaluate the difference between the adhesive we developed and foreign products, we had to drop the resin on the glass sheet, scrape it with a utility knife after curing, and compare the advantages and disadvantages by feeling. A customer asked whether our products can pass the environmental test at a temperature of 85°C and relative humidity of 85%? But we didn't have a constant temperature and humidity machine at that time, so we had to put the test piece in a small electric rice cooker with water at the bottom, and then use a thermostat to control the temperature at 85°C to create a relative humidity of 100%. Our first UV glue application product is candles. The copper sheet at the bottom of the core should be adhered to the glass container to prevent the wax from falling out. The reason why customers abandon imported brands and choose Everwide is very discouraging. Because their reason is that our adhesive strength is relatively poor, and it is easier to reprocess if it is broken. Every time I think of these things, it makes me feel that it has happened in the last century. The years of demanding survival and fighting for breath have become battles of the past, and the stories told during the holidays have also become the past, who can be moved by these stories? Looking at the oil paintings my mother prepared for Everwide in 1998, I stroked the photos of everyone paddling a dragon boat. The creative mood is the original intention of our factory: I hope that everyone will work together and the company's development will always be smooth.
