Experiment § Experiments to predict changes in intensity

A customer produces oil filters and he wants to know the strength change of the adhesive in the oil at 150℃ for a long time. The experimental method is shown in Figure 1,2. We soak the adhesive test pieces in the engine oil, then put them at a high temperature and take them out at a specific time to measure the tension. However, since the change is very slow in an environment of 150°C, we switched to evaluation at 170°C. According to the calculation of cracking kinetics, a 10% cracking reaction rate requires 0.48 years (4224 hours) at 170°C and 4.5 years at 150°C (Figure 3). We measured the intensity change within 1500 hours at 170°C and extrapolated the 4224-hour intensity of 477kg by linear regression (Figure 4). According to dynamics, this intensity is equivalent to 4.5 years of intensity at 150°C. If there is a car traveling at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour without rest for 4.5 years, the mileage will exceed 3 million kilometers! This adhesive is very long-lived!

Activity § Parking lot rearrangement

For the first renovation plan this spring, we decided to start with the parking lot. Originally, the parking lot of the first factory was paved with asphalt, while the second factory was paved with grass bricks. In view of the fact that the grass-planting bricks are uneven because they are penetrated by the roots of the trees, which increases the difficulty of parking. Therefore, we decided to re-lay the parking lot floor tiles. In addition to removing the asphalt pavement of the first factory, the grass-planting bricks were also shoveled one by one. One morning, male colleagues were even mobilized to carry the grass-planting bricks together. Everyone worked in pairs and worked together to clean the grass-planting bricks in less than half an hour. The construction masters also took advantage of the time when the rain stopped for a while, rushed to lay new floor tiles, and finally drawn the parking markings. Every year, we schedule improvement projects to continuously improve our environment.

Knowledge § What non-crystalline polymer?

The polymer chains that do not undergo crystallization are called non-crystalline polymers or amorphous polymers. The reason why crystallization does not occur is related to the disorder of the repeating unit, the side groups being too large, branching or cross-linking, etc., because these factors will prevent the molecular chains from being tightly stacked, further reducing the potential energy and forming crystalline regions. Non-crystalline polymers have only Tg but no Tm. Generally speaking, such polymers have a higher expansion coefficient, lower density, heat resistance, and solvent resistance may be somewhat less, and their toughness, dimensional stability, transparency...maybe better than crystalline polymers. For example, polystyrene, acrylic, ABS, etc. are all non-crystalline polymers.

Living § Studious youth course

We want to build the company into a learning organization. In addition to the long history of research and development of professional skills, another management-related training has also begun to receive attention since the year of the financial tsunami. At first, 103 people attended classes at the Productivity Center, and then the company held Carnegie courses, and many colleagues took part in managerial classes. The total number of the two was about 80. Last year, we asked Mr. Yu Minghe to use the Saturday at the end of each month to give us a series of business management courses, named "Everwide Learning Youth" 12 lessons. After each 6-hour course is over, the real learning begins. The classmates are divided into 4 groups, each group of 7~8 people have to discuss 3~4 times, each time about 2 hours before they can make the homework to be handed in before class next month. We calculated that the total discussion hours after class with colleagues exceeded 2,000 hours. Along with the course, our staff travel last year was adjusted to a "Learning Journey in Japan" and a visit to the Nissan car factory was also arranged. At the year-end meeting this year, everyone reached a consensus and launched 5S improvement actions after the year. A thousand miles begins with a single step. The 5S meeting was divided into two on March 4 to start in sequence, and this year was set as the "improvement year": improving the environment, improving efficiency, and improving safety. Every Friday afternoon, Mr. Yu will check with us the results of last week and the progress of this week. The teacher reminds us that the key to success or failure is not "can it", but "should it". The answer to this question is very clear, of course, we must! We want to improve! We will do our best and firmly believe that in one year, Everwide will make great progress.
