Experiment § Composite material molding resin

Everwide Chemical has recently developed a two-component composite molding resin that cures quickly at medium temperature, which is suitable for molding by hand lay-up method. The hand lay-up method will first coat the release agent on the workpiece model, and then put a woven cloth such as carbon fiber or glass fiber, mix the two-component resin and coat it, and then use a roller to evenly coat the resin on the woven cloth. Repeat the steps of putting the woven cloth and resin coating, and after reaching the required number of layers, natural drying or hot pressing drying can be used to complete the production of the composite material. Since the resin has a relatively low viscosity after mixing and has good fluidity, it is very convenient to use the hand lay-up method for coating, so that the resin can easily penetrate into the fibers to achieve the best combination. After curing, it has good toughness when the Tg value is greater than 100°C, and it is suitable for various sports equipment and other applications that require rigidity and toughness. The picture on the left is the picture before and after the resin is cured. The cured product of this product has good gloss and transparency, which can highlight the texture and three-dimensional feeling of the fiber.

Activity § The actual situation of the annual inventory

Everwide Chemical currently uses about 1,600 kinds of raw materials, and all kinds of raw materials are stored in the factory in different packaging methods. At the middle and the end of each year, we always have to suspend production for one day and take a detailed inventory of raw materials and finished products to maintain the management of the entire raw material warehouse and finished product warehouse. Generally, the inventory team consists of two or three persons, and carefully counts each raw material and finished product. Then hand it over to the management department for them to write the report and check it. The five processes of handling, weighing, filling, proofreading, and accounting are indispensable and use the shortest time to count all the existing raw materials in the factory. If we find a material that differs greatly from the account, we have to review it a second time. In the early days of the company's inception, because there were not many raw materials, inventory was easy and not time-consuming. In recent years, the company's factory area has continued to expand and the scale has grown, and more and more materials are used, making the inventory work more difficult to perform. In order to facilitate everyone's inventory, and save manpower and time, we have continuously revised the inventory method after two or three years and unified a standard so that everyone can easily inventory. Under the principle of not consuming extra manpower and time, the inventory will be completed within a week. This impossible task can be accomplished, and we really want to thank all colleagues who participated in the inventory. It is not easy to establish and maintain inventory systems for raw materials and finished goods warehouses. We hope to plan and maintain this system thoroughly so that everyone can use it quickly and conveniently.


Knowledge § Does plastic necessarily have Tg?

In the fifth issue of Everwide Newsletter, we once introduced Tg (Glass Transition Temperature). Tg is one of the most important characteristics of plastics and affects various physical properties of plastics. However, does plastic necessarily have Tg? Tg, academically rigorously defined, is when a segment composed of 4 to 5 atoms in the main chain of a polymer can move to adjacent free volumes at the same time, this temperature is called the glass transition temperature. Most plastics will have Tg, but in some highly cross-linked thermosetting plastics, its pyrolysis temperature may be lower than Tg, so there is no Tg in this case. For example, certain highly cross-linked phenolic resins. There are also some crystalline thermoplastic polymers. In the case of high crystallinity, the proportion of amorphous regions is small, so there is no Tg. For example, ultra-high molecular weight linear polyethylene, the trade name is Spectra, crystallinity is over 99.8%, and Tg is almost non-existent.


Living § Different fire drills

In the past fire drills, the lecturers simply talked about all kinds of fire fighting knowledge on the podium, and there were no actual drills. Later, actual drills were slowly carried out, so that all colleagues could be more involved in fire fighting training. When the actual fire extinguisher operation and descent machine operation were performed for the first time, the effect was not as ideal as imagined. Many colleagues were unwilling to step forward to try to use fire-fighting equipment because of their shyness. At that time, I started to figure out what I should do so that my colleagues would volunteer to try various training content. During the second firefighting training, I designed a lot of interactive activities that made many colleagues find it interesting and willing to do it on their own. It also made me more confident in organizing the training and believing that I can do every firefighting training well. In the first two weeks, we held the end-of-year firefighting training. This time we joined the situation drama and arranged various fire situations so that each member of the self-defense firefighting team could judge by themselves what they need to do when the situation occurs. The first time I used the situation drama to organize training, the situation was a bit difficult to grasp, but everyone was able to understand their actions more seriously. Compared with the past, Everwide’s firefighting training has been more complete, such as the processing procedures performed when actual conditions occur. These improvements cannot be achieved through my own efforts. I am most grateful to the members of the Labor Safety and Health Team for their imagination together. We jointly put forward more perfect suggestions to make the entire training process go smoothly. Of course, I also want to thank my colleagues for their strong cooperation to achieve such training results. I deeply believe that our training will be more perfect in the future.
